Rain didn't dampen the spirits at our Festival of Brass event. It's great that everyone had a fantastic time, and it's always nice when the weather doesn't put a damper on outdoor events.
We'd like to congratulate The Flixton Band for being the overall champions of the competition who put on a fine performance in torrential rain!
Congratulations also to Mossley Band for securing second place and Ashton Band for securing third place. It was a highly competitive event, and all the bands should be proud of their accomplishments.
Adjudicator, Russell Grey, had the difficult task of judging a total of 19 performances.
Prior to the results, the amazing B&D Junior Band entertained the crowds, it was great to see 4 new members enjoying their first ever performance.
The helpers and the audience played a crucial role in making the event a success, and it's wonderful to see so many bandsmen enjoying the day.
Lastly, a special thanks to Darwen Town Council for their support in supporting the event. Without their backing, such popular events wouldn't be possible. Their support is instrumental in promoting and fostering a vibrant brass band culture.
Once again, congratulations to all the participating bands and everyone involved in making the Festival of Brass a memorable and enjoyable experience!
This year the winners were also presented with an extra special award – the original Darwen Brass Band Challenge Trophy dating back to 1956.
