The band has been putting in plenty of focused rehearsal time on their test piece, Variations on Les Webet , in preparation for the upcoming contest. It’s a challenging work, and the players have been working steadily to fine-tune the details and strengthen the overall performance. They’re now looking ahead to competing in the First Section North West Area in Blackpool this Sunday. We hope to see you there.

Brass band fans are invited to a special evening of music as three North West bands present a preview concert ahead of the North West Area Contest , taking place on 1st March at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool . The concert will be held on Saturday 21st February at AKS Lytham , with a 7.00pm start , and offers a great opportunity to hear each band perform their selected Area test pieces  in a relaxed and friendly concert setting. Over the last two weekends, our band had the absolute pleasure of performing The Snowman  to a combined audience of over 800 people—and what a memorable experience it was. We were delighted to be invited to perform at Manchester Cathedral for this year’s Christmas concert in support of The Christie charity . It was a strong setting for a festive programme, and we appreciated the chance to take part. The event also featured the amazing AKS School Choirs of Lytham and the Blackburn & Darwen Band, both of whom contributed excellent performances. Today, the band was deeply honoured to take part in the Remembrance Service at Blackburn Cathedral  — a moment of reflection and gratitude for all those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
