The band was honoured to take part in the Blackburn with Darwen Civic Parade in Blackburn this weekend, celebrating the appointment of the new Mayor. It was a privilege to perform as part of this special community occasion, including playing in the wonderful Blackburn Cathedral. We would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event and made it such a memorable day.

Darwen Town Square came alive with the sound of brass music this weekend as the Blackburn & Darwen March and Hymn Tune Contest returned for another successful year. The band once again had the honour of leading the parade at Ribchester Field Day. As always, it was a fantastic community event, made even better by the glorious sunshine.

The band has been putting in plenty of focused rehearsal time on their test piece, Variations on Les Webet , in preparation for the upcoming contest. It’s a challenging work, and the players have been working steadily to fine-tune the details and strengthen the overall performance. They’re now looking ahead to competing in the First Section North West Area in Blackpool this Sunday. We hope to see you there.
