Our 7th Annual March & Hymn Tune contest took place on Sunday 25th September. Although there was a reduced number of bands due to the re-arranged date it was still a thoroughly good day with plenty bandsmen coming along to listen as well as the locals who braved the chillier weather.
We have had lots of positive comments about how excellent the organisation was and how people thoroughly enjoyed their day out in Darwen Town Centre.
Overall winners Besses Boys Band with MD James Holt.
Sophie from Besses Boys Band was awarded the youngest player award
Best soloist went to the principal cornet player of The Mossley Band.
Prior to the results the audience were entertained by our marvellous Junior Band who are going from strength to strength. We are so proud of them.
We even had a visit from Darwen Town Crier.
Thanks to our adjudicator for the day Andrea Price and the Mayors of Darwen & Blackburn for presenting the prizes. Thanks also to all the B&D team including our Junior Band parents for their fantastic organisation which enabled the day to run smoothly.
We are extremely grateful to Darwen Town Council who continue to support this great event which has grown into one of the most popular events on the band calendars.
